From June 10th to June 18th, the people of Reading will have an exceptional chance to observe our planet from space, courtesy of the world-renowned Gaia globe. The awe-inspiring installation, which has already been exhibited in several cities around the globe, including Singapore, Australia, and various parts of Europe, will be displayed at the Reading Town Hall. Despite being 1.8 million times smaller than the actual Earth, the seven-meter diameter structure will provide a captivating experience, enhanced by a specially crafted surround sound composition from BAFTA award winner Dan Jones.
Reading Borough Council, Reading Climate Change Partnership (RCCP), Reading Business Improvement District (part of REDA), and the University of Reading have teamed up to bring Gaia to town as part of the Reading Climate Festival. The installation aims to encourage residents to take climate action and ponder over environmental issues. An array of events, including family activities and musical concerts, will also take place during the festival and will be revealed over the forthcoming months. The entrance fee is £2 for adults, and children under 14 can enjoy the exhibit for free, but prior booking is necessary via the What's On Reading website.
